Chub ("Färna") Overview


Chub - Squalius cephalus

The fern belongs to the carp family.
It is widespread in central and southern Sweden but rarely occurs in any large quantities.
The fern is about the size of the idea and can reach weights of around 3 kilos.

Population

It is relatively common in the rivers Tidan and Svartån.
It prefers flowing water but is also found in lakes.

Size and growth

Farnan rarely exceeds 55 cm. Normal weight is 0.5 kg but can reach up to 2.8 kg.

Swedish record: 3.5 kg
