Ide ("Id") Overview

Ide - Leuciscus idus

Iden is similar to roaches but has a more curved back.
Red belly and anal fins.
It is the largest of our roach fish and can amount to 4 kg in Sweden (5 kg in Finland).

Population

It lives in both fresh and brackish water. It is found along the coasts, in watercourses in central / southern Sweden + northern coastal area.

However, it prefers clear flowing water.

Size and growth

Lifespan: about 23 years.
Sexually mature at 6-7 years of age, plays in March-June in running shallow water.

Swedish record: 3.7 Kg.
