The fisheries conservation area's lakes are located about 15 km from Växjö, Åredasjön, Vikasjön, Stora Hacksjön and Skirsjön.
Sizes 60-130ha, typical water quality for forest lakes in the area, with humus-rich waters. Depth usually below 3 m, occasional deep holes 6-8 m. The lakes' surroundings and beaches are largely unaffected by construction or agriculture. No emissions from communities or industries occur. The beaches are alternately low-lying, difficult to access and sloping mountains and forest areas. To a large extent soft bottoms but also rocky areas and hard bottoms are found.
The fish occurrence is of the common lake species. In the 1950s, tench and eel were deposited, at least in Lake Vikasjön, single specimens still exist.
Åreda / Vikasjön's fvo is available to facilitate the members' cooperation in water and fisheries management issues.
The collaboration also provides opportunities to offer card fishing to interested parties. Such a controlled activity began as early as the 1940s.
