Fvo manages the fishing in the lake, which is about 16 km southwest of Umeå, next to the road to Gräsmyr.
Visit our website for the latest info.
Four villages are located around the lake: Bjännsjö, Degersjö, Innersjö and Yttersjö. Lake Bjännsjön is easily accessible because the road goes around the entire lake. Parking spaces are available in several places around the lake. See fishing map.
Lake Bjännsjön, which is about 300 ha in size, is about 3.9 km long and at most 1.4 km wide. The beaches are mostly arable land, mixed forest and there are also some marsh areas, especially at Bjännsjöviken and at Järphålet.
Lake Bjännsjön is the municipality's third largest lake. Despite its size, it is a shallow lake. The deepest part is 7 meters and this is in Yttersjöviken.
Large pike of up to 10 kg are caught annually, and during the 2009 fishing year, the largest known rod-caught pike weighed 11 kilos.
There are plenty of perch in the lake and perch by the kilo are not uncommon. During test fishing in 2009, the largest perch caught was 44 cm long and the record for perch in the lake is just over 1.8 kilos.
The fish stock in Lake Bjännsjön consists of perch, pike, roach, bream and tench. Planting has taken place of 1-year-old zander and on some occasions also of large trout (0.8-2.5 kg).
