The area's water resources include Mosjön (310 ha) and the Baltic Sea (140 ha) as well as a number of smaller lakes / ponds and watercourses such as Flärken, Flärkån, Gällerån, Brusån, Fjälån and Bölesbäcken. The water system is connected to the Indalsälven via Fjälån. The landscape around the lakes is dominated by coniferous forests and bogs. There are permanent settlements in the villages Sjör, Mo and Åsen, the nearest town is Lit. In Mosjön and the Baltic Sea, whitefish are of high quality, otherwise the fish fauna consists of plenty of perch, large pike and whitefish such as id and roach. Sutare has been implanted in Mosjön and has shown good growth. The area's small lakes are characterized as pike and perch. Mo-Östersjöns Fiskevårdsförening was formed in 1992.
