The fisheries management area allows fishing to the public via a fishing license that entitles them to fish with the following hand tools: fishing rod, pole, casting rod and fly rod.
The fishing license is valid from Svartån's outlet at Säbysjön down to Tranås Energi, with the exception of prohibited areas.
There are both stretches of current and parts with deep, calmer water. Spångar stretches along the river in some parts where there is alluvial land. Spinning and angling are the most popular fishing methods in Svartån.
The most common species are perch, bream, tench, pike, tench, leek, lake, trout, eel and more.
Young people under the age of 16 fish for free, but must hold a valid fishing license.
Young people up to and including 15 years of age sign this youth fishing card through iFiske. The tourist agency Tranås Direkt, which is located by the square in central Tranås, can help if needed.
Svartån's Fisheries Conservation Area, which consists of Tranås Municipality and a number of private water owners, protects the aquatic environment and invests in fisheries conservation measures in Svartån's waters. Many measures have been taken to remove obstacles to hiking and to improve playgrounds. We will continue with improvement measures continuously in the coming years with one step at a time. Revenues from sport fishing licenses sold are reinvested on an ongoing basis in fisheries conservation measures.
