Unnen is a popular fishing lake for both local residents and tourists. According to the survey, there was a total of 3,400 days of fishing in Unnen (3-5 hours on average) in 2009.
Unnen is a popular sport fishing lake. Much of this is due to the good chances of catching large pike and zander. The picture shows a pike of 11.35 kg from Unnen taken by Ingemar Grimåsen in 1999. Today it is mainly the pike that attracts fishermen to the lake. In the past, the fishing for lake and perch was also very good in the lake and it was not uncommon for large specimens to be caught. There are reports of caught pike over 15 kg in Unnen, and several over 10 kg are taken annually. There is a good chance of getting the biggest pike of your life in Unnen.
Unnen has great development potential in fishing tourism as the lake is large and is located in a developable area. There is varied fishing in Unnen for perch, pike, zander and carp. Gear fishing also occurs with bottom nets and nets.
It is of great importance that surveys take place continuously in the future to evaluate how Unnen's fish stock is developing. The extensive trial fishing carried out within this project in 2009 is part of this work.
