Åkers Kanal - Lower part
The canal offers fishing in central Åkersberga for various species such as various whitefish (bream, roach, birch, cormorant, etc.), sea trout, pikeperch, pike, perch, lake and aspen. Members of ÖSFK are offered free fishing here and for guests there is the opportunity to buy a day or week card. Fishing is prohibited during the period 15 September-31 December. Some distances, i.a. around Slussholmen and at the outflow of Smedbyån, are protected all year round. Municipal transport is easy to get here.
Trastsjön and Södersjön
These lakes, which are connected by a short river, are located in Trastsjöskogen's scenic area about 10 minutes from central Åkersberga. In these lakes, fishing mainly attracts species such as bream, pike, perch, tench and carp. For carp and tench, mandatory catch @ release prevails.
In addition to the above fishing waters, membership in Österåker's Sport Fishing Club gives increased fishing rights to various archipelago waters belonging to Österåker municipality. In addition to free hand gear fishing, there is the opportunity for household fishing with nets, longlines and fishing rods. Also some possibility for trolling with an electric motor according to special rules.
Österåker's Sportfishing Club started its operations in 1943 and is today one of the country's largest fishing clubs/associations with almost 600 members.
Sportfiskeklubben manages and supervises Österåker municipality's fishing waters but also other leased water areas. The waters include e.g. archipelago waters as well as Drängsjön, Trastsjön, Södersjön and the lower part of Åker's channel. In Lake Drängsjön, put&take fishing is conducted for noble fish.
The club carries out fisheries conservation and fisheries supervision activities in the managed waters.
We have also been approved by the County Administrative Board in Stockholm County since 1996 to run fishing inspection courses.
