Ås-Tolken FVOF

Ås-Tolken is located with the western part in Borås and the eastern part in Ulricehamn municipality.

The lake is the source lake for Viskan and has clear and clean water. Tolken is an excellent fishing lake with large perch, pike, zander, eel, salmon trout and not least whitefish and whitefish. Sometimes you can also get tanners.

There are several islands in the lake. On one of them, Sundholmen, there are the remains of Sundholmen's castle from the early 16th century. There is a boat ramp at the southern end of the lake at Hallabron and one at the northern end of the lake, at the beginning of the descent to Sjögården. The latter is located near old highway 40, south of the former Nice Inn.

BIRD PROTECTION AREA IN ÅS-TOLKEN.

The County Administrative Board declared as a BIRD PROTECTION AREA. On 03/26/2021, the County Administrative Board decided on enhanced protective measures (marked in bold below).

The area is important for a bird species worthy of protection and sensitive to disturbance.

Signs are posted around the lake, i.a. at the boarding ramps.

On the island there is the red-yellow sign "FÅGELSKYDD", which informs about the prohibition to disembark on the island during the months of March, April, May and June and half of July (March 1-July 15). Please note that staying within 300 m. of the island is prohibited, although passage by boat is permitted 200 m. from the island. However, in practice the east side of Lindö becomes difficult to pass due to stone obstacle. A ban on all fishing within the protected area applies from 1 March to 15 July.
