Gargnäs-Råstrands FVO is located in the eastern part of Sorsele municipality about 20 miles from the sea. With approx. 20 miles towards the river's source flow, you then end up with us in a scenic area with stretches rich in research and large lake areas. We have everything from the mighty rapids, the calm side flows, large lakes to the smallest pond and everyone has the opportunity to find their dream place within the area.
The Wind River
We have a large area with approx. 25 km of river, of which nine rapids and seven rapids. Here there are really good chances for good fishing for salmon, trout and grayling.
Gargån
One of Vindelälven's largest tributaries.
With its source flow in Gargaure in the Norrbothnian border, it winds its way through woodlands and bogs down to the Vindelälven at Laxselet. Please note that fishing in Gargån has its own fishing license.
Over the years, Gargån has had a good reputation for fishing for large and coarse trout and quantities of grayling.
Over the years, however, the river has been heavily affected by rafting and forestry. Major efforts have been made in flotation restorations and have today received a major facelift, which has shown itself very positively for the trout in the water. Our fly fishing stretch from Dammen i Jorbokksforsen down to Fallet i Trollforsen has produced quantities of fine trout in recent years. The grayling fishing has also during the same time yielded nice catches, but not the really big individuals. Grayling around 7-8 hg is a common fish, but over 1 kg, on the other hand, is unusual.
Unfortunately, the unrestrained forestry along the watercourse has made the river terribly sensitive to rainfall. During dry periods, the river drops to almost catastrophically low levels and high water temperatures. During rainy periods, all the water comes at once and the river rises almost to spring flows.
The best fishing period in the river is during early spring until mid-July at best. However, this depends entirely on how the weather plays out.
Staggbäcken
A tributary to the Gargån that flows from the Staggträsket and empties into the Gargån in the west of the village of Gargnäs.
A small watercourse that is very suitable for fly fishing.
The stream is dominated by the grayling fishery, but after restorations made in 2012, we hope to re-establish the large trout stock that once existed in the system.
The stream has small short currents and large seals. Fishing on the selen is dominated by pike and perch, which can be really good. The upper part of the stream is probably the most fished over the years due to its accessibility.
The lower section is less used, but with the new "forest road" accessibility is better and maybe this is where you will find your new paradise.
S Sob swamp
One of our largest lakes in the area. Here, in recent years, we have invested in releasing fish again.
The lake contains trout, char, perch, pike, whitefish, whitefish, roach and tench.
In the lake there is the well-known "Vulgatan" but so far it has not produced the fishing that is seen in other places. Maybe it is during the summer fishing that you catch your dream fish right here?
Boats are available for hire for fishing in the lake. There is also an electric motor with battery to rent at Ica Gargnäs.
You can get here via the gravel road between Gargnäs and Staggträsk. Fishing ban from the time of release (just before ice-out) until January 1
Light bottom iron
Like the name, the pond has extremely clear water and resembles a mountain lake. In the water there are trout, char and the occasional perch.
By the pond there is a restored "cutter's hut" that FVO owns. Here you can seek shelter in case of storms or perhaps for an overnight stay. In the cabin there is a large stove and simple bunks that can serve as beds.
Fly fishing from the beach is excellent and you can walk around the pond in no time.
You can get here via minor road from the 363 at Orrkulla.
The fishing period in the pond is between 2 Saturday in March until the stocking time, which takes place in late autumn.
