Just below the first hiking obstacle in Klarälven is the Forshagaforsen fishery conservation area. Forshagaforsen is above all known for its salmon and trout fishing and is visited annually by anglers from all over the world. Here, however, there is also very good fishing for other species, both in the river and in other waters in the immediate area.
Fishing for salmon and trout is carried out during the summer with a dispensation from the County Administrative Board, and a lot of fish that migrate up from Vänern to spawn gather in the area. But already when the spring sun starts to warm frozen sport fishing fingers and the ice disappears from the river, some local fishermen start fishing for trout again. At the beginning of the year, it is mainly overwintered salmon and trout that nibble, but during the spring the first shiny trout is also usually caught. Our catch statistics show that an average of one salmon or trout is caught every 3-4 fishing opportunities, which makes fishing in Forshagaforsen a of the country's best fishing areas for these species. Most of the summer fishing is done with fly, which is also the only method allowed in the best fishing zones. The number of fishing licenses sold per zone during the period 20 May-15 October is limited, which gives anglers greater opportunities for better and more enjoyable fishing. During this period, all fishing licenses are sold and all catches are reported directly to Forshagaforsen's fishing center and can be followed via the website www.forshagaforsen.com/fangster
In addition to salmon and trout, there are very good sport fishing opportunities for other species in Forshagaforsen. Every year several pike over ten kilos are landed, among other things. Pike fishing can be done all year round, but the largest specimens are usually taken in autumn and spring. In late autumn and winter, there are also many who go in search of Klarälven's large tench, and tench over four kilos is not unusual. Another fun fishing that can yield big fish in the spring is ice fishing. A simple and effective method for ice fishing is bottom fishing, and it is not impossible to get ice over three kilos in Forshagaforsen.
